Nagyerdő — the Great Forest — has been Debrecen’s park, lungs, and gathering place for centuries. The walk loops from the University fountain through the forest’s interior, past the water tower, the park lake, the zoo, and the stadium, before returning to Egyetem tér.
 
Twenty-five GPS stops scatter across the route. It’s a park that’s used every day by students, families, and runners — but the forest paths between the landmarks are quiet. That’s where the questions land.

Egyetem Fountain

The walk begins at the fountain in front of the University of Debrecen — one of Hungary’s great academic landmarks. Students pass through here every day without stopping. You will.

Nagyerdei Park

The great forest park of Debrecen, stretching north from the university. Old oaks, winding paths, and the particular silence that comes with a park that’s been here for generations.

Nagyerdei Víztorony

The water tower at the heart of the park — a distinctive industrial landmark rising above the tree line. A question about what you notice when you look up.

Aquaticum & the Park Lake

The ornamental lake in the middle of the park, with the Aquaticum spa complex reflected in the water. A question about where you go to recover.

Zoo Debrecen
