About Along

A walking experience that gets you closer.

Along started with a simple observation about a friend, a walk, and a question about why some conversations happen outdoors that never happen anywhere else.

The research behind Along

Why walking works
when sitting doesn't.

Side by side, not face to face

When you walk side by side, you remove the social pressure of direct eye contact. Conversations that feel impossible across a table happen naturally when you’re moving in the same direction.

Movement lowers your guard

Physical movement reduces anxiety and increases openness. Research in psychology consistently shows that walking conversations produce more honest, deeper responses than seated ones.

Outdoors changes how you think

Time outside reduces cortisol, improves mood, and increases cognitive flexibility. You’re more open, more present, and more willing to go somewhere emotionally when you’re physically moving.

Start is fixed

Along was designed in consultation with relationship psychologists who specialise in communication and connection. The question sets, the timing, the structure — none of it is accidental.

The mission

Get people outside. Get them talking. Get them seeing each other differently.

Along gives you dedicated time outdoors — good for your health, good for your relationship, good for the conversations that matter. It’s not an app. It’s a reason to leave your phone in your pocket and actually be somewhere with someone.

Who Along is for

New to each other

People who are just starting to date — and want a first experience that actually means something. No awkward silences, no job interview energy. Just a walk and questions worth answering.

Couples who want to reconnect

Relationships get busy. Routines take over. Along gives you a dedicated reason to step outside together and talk the way you used to — without having to plan a whole thing around it.

Married couples who need dedicated time

Life fills up fast. Along carves out a few hours that belong only to the two of you — no phones, no plans, no distractions. Just the city and each other.

Couples who want a different perspective

You know each other well — but there are still questions you've never asked. Along puts you in motion, in a new setting, with questions designed to show you a side of your partner you haven't seen yet.

Where it started

Budapest first. Europe next.

Budapest was the natural starting point. It’s a city made for wandering — bridges, riverbanks, castle hills, ruins turned into bars, the Danube cutting through the middle of everything. The kind of place where you leave for a walk and end up somewhere you didn’t plan to be. That felt right.

But the idea was never just Budapest. Every city has streets worth walking and conversations worth having. Along is built to travel — not as a tourist experience, but as something that quietly belongs wherever it lands.

What people remember most

Getting lost together.

Along gives you dedicated time outdoors — good for your health, good for your relationship, good for the conversations that matter. It’s not an app. It’s a reason to leave your phone in your pocket and actually be somewhere with someone.

They loved getting lost together and searching for the GPS coordinates. That moment — not knowing exactly where the next stop is, hunting it down together — turned out to be as much a part of the experience as the questions themselves.

Along was designed around questions. But what people remember is the adventure of finding the stops — the little bit of getting lost, the searching, the city revealing itself around them.

THE STORY

"I noticed a friend told me better stories when we were walking side by side than when we were sitting across from each other."

It stayed with me. I started digging into the research — the psychology of walking, of movement, of what happens to a conversation when you’re side by side instead of face to face. Then I talked to relationship psychologists who work with exactly this. What they told me made everything click.

Walking side by side does something to a conversation. You’re not facing each other — that small thing matters more than you’d think. There’s no eye contact to manage, no performance pressure. Your guard comes down without you deciding to lower it. The movement, the air, the city around you — it all loosens something. And when a real question lands at the right moment, you answer honestly in a way you might not at a dinner table.

The Routon GPS system was already being used in rally races and other outdoor active experiences — and then came a thought: what if it could do something entirely different? Not direct people to checkpoints, but deliver a question. The right one, at the right place, at exactly the right moment. That was the beginning of Along.
“The experience happens between the two people — not on the app. Along is just the structure that makes it easier to get there.”
